Huzzah Valley Reenactment,
Steelville, Missouri
October 8-9, 2005
photos by Christina Miller
The following photos are some from the Reenactment at Huzzah Valley, Steelville, Missouri. This one was important to us because my great-great grandfather, Thomas Jackson's brother, "Poor" Bill Jackson was killed during this part of the Union retreat from Pilot Knob. He was shot through the lungs, lingered for five days, and is buried on the site.
I don't think you could have ordered better weather for this reenactment. The daytime temps were about 70 degrees, although it got very chilly at night. We slept in the pop-up camper, so we had it a little easier than the other guys.
There were a few sutlers and not a whole lot of reenactors, but the area was quite large and the hosts did a good job so I hope it comes back again next year.
I took so many photos it's shameful (200+), so it was hard to narrow it down to just a few, but I didn't figure anyone wanted to download that many photos and since I have dial-up I sure didn't want to upload that many. Let me know what you think.
